Mille Lacs Energy Cooperative (MLEC) is seeking a Technology Technician II to join our Information Technology and Broadband team. This position plays a key role in delivering exceptional technical services, supporting fiber installations, and ensuring high standards of customer service for our members.
What You’ll Do
• Install, configure, and test premise equipment (ONTs, routers, Wi-Fi) using optical power meters. • Perform fiber splicing, cable termination, and testing for Cat-5/6 and coaxial cables. • Troubleshoot and repair GPON fiber connections and related equipment. • Assist members with connecting devices to Wi-Fi and wired networks. • Coordinate with contractors for fiber placement and construction needs. • Maintain accurate documentation and participate in inventory processes. • Ensure compliance with safety standards and attend safety meetings. • Provide exceptional in-home/business customer experiences.
Required Experience/Education
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Two years of advanced education or training in IT or a comparable technical field (or equivalent experience), and experience with technical support and installation of computers, routers, and networking technology.
Skills: Strong communication and problem-solving abilities: Knowledge of building construction for efficient cable routing: Proficiency with computers, tablets, smartphones, and related devices.
Technical: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must have a valid Minnesota driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Preferred Education/Experience
Cooperative or telecommunications industry experience.
