A Brief Overview The Director of Outside Plant plays a pivotal role in shaping the strategic vision and direction of broadband infrastructure development. They provide leadership and oversight in the planning, execution, and management of construction projects, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and industry standards. With a focus on strategic foresight, this individual collaborates with key stakeholders to establish robust frameworks and methodologies for efficient deployment of broadband networks, including fiber optic installations. They leverage their expertise to drive innovation and excellence, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the construction team.
What you will do • Supervise the continuous and secure operation, administration, and maintenance of the internet service computing and networking infrastructure. • Manage day-to-day operations, leveraging the company’s communication network to deliver highly available data, voice, and other services to member/subscribers, alongside essential back- office applications for administrative support. • Champion efforts to simplify and elevate the member/subscriber experience, actively supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery. • Develop and spearhead the implementation of internet service network surveillance processes and systems, driving the creation of innovative network operation processes and tools from conception to execution. Focus on enhancing monitoring capabilities to ensure optimal platform performance. • Lead internet service network operations projects encompassing budgeting, planning, implementation, maintenance, administration, staffing, and logistics. • Direct teams to conduct comprehensive analyses of internet service network performance from cost, capacity, and forecasting perspectives. Evaluate emerging technologies and applications to enhance internet service network operations. • Oversee the coordination of external contractors and vendors engaged in broadband construction activities, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations and quality standards. • Utilize project metrics and performance indicators to pinpoint areas for refinement and streamline the efficiency of broadband construction processes.
Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Security Required • Master's Degree Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Security Preferred • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job • 10+ years' Experience in large scale internet service network management, and network architecture, engineering and design Required • 1-3 years Supervisor/management experience Required • Innovative and strategic thinker and decision maker. • Knowledge of server operations and security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion prevention, and data loss prevention. • Knowledge of industry trends related to information systems and related technology, network protocols, architectures, and topologies. • Extensive knowledge of core network equipment supporting ISP Networks, FTTx, Metro Ethernet, DWDM, fiber plant, and telecom power. • Problem solving and execution skills in driving transformation and change • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with both technical and non- technical stakeholders. • Advanced computer skills that apply a high degree of working knowledge of telecommunication networking operations and provisions. • Expert knowledge of network architecture and design, including the ability to develop and implement designs that meet business requirements. • Expert communication, interpersonal and analytical skills. • Strong leadership with proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Ability to effectively coach others to accomplish assignments and direct groups of individuals to achieve consensus. • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Preferred • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Preferred • Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional (JNCIP) Preferred • SolarWinds Certified Professional Preferred • Wireshark Certified Network Analyst (WCNA) Preferred • Riverbed Certified Performance Engineer (RCPE) Preferred
