Jasper County REMC is launching high-speed internet service; Connect: Internet by Jasper County REMC. We are looking for Broadband Technicians to install and maintain Fiber and Fixed Wireless internet to our members.
The Broadband Technician is responsible to install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot broadband services, primarily focused on fiber-optic, radio-wireless, and voice-over-IP technologies. The Broadband Technician utilizes the necessary test equipment, hand tools, and other telecommunications-based tools to ensure an excellent member experience.

Perform fiber and wireless broadband service installations, disconnects and reconnects for residential and commercial dwellings or other facilities.
Integrate internet and telephone services with member equipment, including connection and set-up of member-owned, in-home devices.
Perform all work as necessary to conform to quality, security and safety control guidelines and procedures.
Keep proper records of installed facilities, materials used, signal levels, and test results as applicable.
Receive and analyze trouble reports utilizing established troubleshooting procedures to pinpoint cause and resolve the issue.
Interpret facilities records, prints and maps.
Locate buried network facilities: fiber optic cable, power, etc.
Observe respectful and conscientious member service and housekeeping measures at all member locations; clean premises of all debris and materials after work is complete.
Educate members on proper use of services and equipment, including member provided devices. Familiarize members with online tools and processes for accessing help at a later date.
Clean, maintain, stock and secure assigned vehicle and equipment.
Complete work orders, service orders and communicate challenges to supervisor to ensure efficient scheduling and timely completion of work.
Perform other responsibilities and work duties as assigned
Education / Work Experience Required:
High School Degree (mandatory)
Preferred Experience / Skills:
Telephone, CATV, wireless network, or satellite installer experience
Proficiency with common household devices: Laptops, PCs, Smartphones, Tablets, Smart TV, IoT devices, etc.
Basic understanding of network fundamentals, network hardware and Wi-Fi networks
Knowledge of Fiber Optics, GPON, FTTx

Physically fit and must be able to work at heights, including member rooftops.
Lift up to 50lbs and meet the 300lb weight restrictions on ladders to comply with OSHA standards
Must be able to safely use ladders and be comfortable working on rooftops and running cables to various parts of a building including basement, crawl and attic.
Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions every day.
Knowledge of residential building pathways and basic computer networking skills
Must be able to demonstrate attention to accuracy on all duties and responsibilities
Must be comfortable working in a high stress, fast paced environment with shifting priorities.
Member service oriented with passion for high member satisfaction and achieving operational excellence; ability to interact with all levels of staff, including senior management
Valid Driver’s License
Ability to pass a background check and random drug test. NO felony records
Ability to work fulltime, overtime, and additional hours as required
