As the Outside Plant (OSP) Staking Engineer you will be responsible for planning, estimating, designing, and inspecting Luminate's OSP and FTTP network. This role supports Luminate's engineering firm and has direct oversight of small projects and the last mile network. You will also have responsibility and ownership over material management, coordinating and overseeing vendors and contractors, assisting in GIS mapping, quality control, financial accountability, escalations, safety, and risk management.
Plan, engineer, estimate, and design, FTTP OSP, Fixed Wireless and Millimeter Wave networks
Prepare and issue staking sheets in NISC's Mapwise software to be issued to the field for construction/installation
Establish costs associated with projects and generate estimates using NISC software
Support FTTP construction builds by providing expert guidance and assistance to fiber installation technicians
Comply with and respond to federal, state and local regulations
Assist in the procurement of materials
Analyze and develop internal processes and implement procedural changes, including streamlining workflows
Assist with developing standards and specifications for OSP and company resources
Manage and track work orders associated with drop and mainline fiber extensions
Conduct field visits with potential customers in support of technicians and sales to identify installation viability
Ensure Luminate's assets are properly accounted for by maintaining accurate GIS records
Key skills and experience required
Proven ability to multi-task and plan/organize work to meet deadlines, all with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated problem solving abilities
Effective communication skills and the ability to work as a team player
Strong emphasis on accountability, attention to detail, accuracy and action item follow through
Leadership skills and previous supervisory experience preferred
Understanding and appreciation of technology and telecommunications along with general computer skills and proficiency in using standard office equipment
Bachelor of Science degree in Business, related technical field or equivalent experience
Five or more years of experience in telecommunications with OSP fiber emphasis
Proven experience with GIS mapping systems
Strong understanding of FTTP distribution networks, OSP principles and procedures, permitting, aerial and underground construction, fiber splicing records and tracking of projects.
