The Lead Technician will be responsible for supporting commercial and residential customers by leading a team of assigned technicians who are responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience. The Lead Technician will support and maintain the network to include residential/commercial installation and repair, fiber splicing, RF troubleshooting, monitoring operational status, installing or supporting elements of the fiber access network and fixed wireless network.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
Train and supervise technicians in the concepts of fiber-based services and fixed wireless installation and repair
Deliver Fiber-To-The-Prem (FTTP) installation, repair and customer service to residential and business customers
In-depth knowledge of both aerial and underground fiber networks
Provide an exceptional in-home/business experience to customers
Efficient and knowledgeable of FTTP service, gateways and WiFi
Installing residential and commercial drops, ensuring best practices are followed by the technician team
Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair broadband and telephony (VoIP) services using software applications and technical expertise
Troubleshoot customer WiFi, LAN and connection issues
Install, repair and support Unified Communications, HPBX and VoIP telephony systems
On-call rotation to include nights, weekends and holidays
Communicate with vendors and contractors on Outside Plant buildout to ensure high quality deliverables
Assist Luminate team in technical expertise regarding physical application of methods, tools, and concepts of fiber infrastructure
Support maintenance and deployment of access network components from Network Operations Centers to outdoor cabinets and premise equipment
Qualifications & Job Requirements
To perform the Project Coordinator role successfully, an individual should have the following education, competencies, and experience:
Experience with FTTP, GPON, Active Ethernet Networks, Calix, Cat5/6 wiring
Splice, test and troubleshoot fiber optics
Familiar with Microsoft Office suite and collaborative software
Foster teamwork and able to collaborate with colleagues to work toward resolving customer needs
Required to conduct work in a safe and efficient manner
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
Able to work with a variety of fiber hand tools and software applications, both common and proprietary to Luminate Broadband
Understanding of how to use an OTDR and Visual Fault Locator to test and troubleshoot fiber optics
Experience in wiring traditional POTS (plain old telephone service) lines
Address safety concerns with both the installers and the Network Operations Supervisor
Familiar with Aggregator and OLT systems in access network
Physical Effort and Dexterity: This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions, working inside the customers home or business, working in confined spaces and lifting +/- 50 pounds. Candidate must also be able to work at heights in excess of 18’ on a ladder and in a bucket truck to heights up to 22’.
Visual Acuity, Hearing and Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly for work and safety compliance. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to Visual and audio acuity is essential to this position proficiency in using standard office equipment.
Environment/Working Conditions: Normal office conditions, some irregular hours may be required. Occasional day time travel for training or various errands as needed to complete the responsibilities of the position.

Yampa Valley Electric Association is a cooperative located in Northwest Colorado. We have two locations: one in Steamboat Springs and one in Craig. Today, the Association serves nearly 26,300 meters over 2,840 miles of line. The association's service territory extends east to the continental divide, south to almost I-70, north into Wyoming about 10 miles, and west to within 25 miles of the Utah border. The 7,000 square mile service territory includes the communities of Baggs and Savery, Wyoming; Craig, Hayden, Steamboat Springs, and Yampa, Colorado; and surrounds, but does not include the town of Oak Creek, Colorado. The Association is run by a Board of Directors. The member/owners elect nine individuals from the general membership to represent them as Board of Directors.
